Berger Fountain Task Force Meeting
The meeting date for March is to be determined due to the CLPC Annual Meeting. Task Force meetings are held in person at the Loring Park Community Center.
Signalized Intersection Traffic Safety Improvements
Safety improvements may include:
Improved traffic signal visibility, i.e.- overhead signals
Additional space for pedestrians, i.e.- curb extensions
Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS), i.e.- pedestrian push buttons
ADA compliant pedestrian curb ramps
LED lighting on traffic signal poles
Signalized intersections identified for safety improvements in your neighborhood include:
Lasalle Ave / Grant St
Lasalle Ave / 15th St
Nicollet Ave / Grant St
Nicollet Ave / 15th St
Willow St / 15th St (Not included in the federally funded project scope. This location is being considered through the use of local funds.)
While this project has a limited scope and budget, we do not anticipate engagement specific to each potential treatment, but rather providing information about the different treatment types, where they will be installed, and the project timeline. Additionally, we are working to launch an interactive mapping tool housed on the project webpage, to empower residents to share their feedback on their experiences at these intersections. The project team will use the feedback to help finalize designs at project locations.
The project is currently in the planning stage for concept development and input and will move to the engineering design phase in 2024. Construction and completion of the traffic safety improvements is planned for 2025.

In 2021, Friends of Loring Park and Citizens for a Loring Park Community, as part of the Berger Fountain Committee, contracted with premier landscape architectural firm Damon-Farber to do a pre-design study to rehabilitate Berger (Dandelion) Fountain. This Minneapolis icon needs help.

Safety walks for the Loring Park Neighborhood
